This Privacy Policy explains how WinPlay Private Limited ("WinPlay", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use the WinPlay platform at thewinplay.com. This Policy covers all WinPlay services including Spot the Ball competitions and the WinPlay Premier League (WPL).
We operate in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India DPDP Act), and all other applicable data protection legislation.

2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Registration Data
When you create a WinPlay account we collect: full name, email address, phone number, date of birth (for age verification), and password (stored in encrypted form). This data is required to operate your account and verify your eligibility to participate.
2.2 Competition Data — Spot the Ball
When you participate in Spot the Ball challenges we collect: your submitted (x, y) coordinates, submission timestamp, accuracy tier achieved, and leaderboard points earned. This data forms your competition history and is used to determine winners and populate leaderboard rankings.
2.3 Competition Data — WPL
When you participate in WPL sessions we collect: your session date and topic, individual question responses, session completion status, total score, speed bonus earned, second-chance attempts used, and session completion time. This data accumulates into your monthly leaderboard standing and is used to determine prize eligibility and rankings.
2.4 Prize Claiming Data
When you claim a prize we additionally collect: your full delivery address, government-issued photo identification details (Aadhaar number, PAN number, or passport number), and bank account details where a cash equivalent is requested. This data is used solely for identity verification and prize dispatch and is not used for any other purpose.
2.5 Technical Data
We automatically collect: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, pages visited and time spent, referring URLs, and session identifiers. This data is used for platform security, performance optimisation, and aggregate analytics.
2.6 Advertising Data
WinPlay uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense may collect: cookie identifiers, IP address, device type, browser data, and interaction data with advertisements. In WPL, the second-chance video advertisement is delivered through a rewarded video advertising framework. The video advertisement provider may collect interaction data as described in their own privacy policies. See Section 5 for full details on advertising cookies and your choices.

4. WPL Video Advertisements — Specific Disclosure
The WPL second-chance mechanism includes a mandatory short video advertisement as part of the disclosed game mechanic. This advertisement is:
- A rewarded video format: participants receive a second attempt at the question in exchange for watching the advertisement
- Delivered through a third-party video advertising network
- Subject to the advertising network's own data collection practices
- Disclosed to participants as a feature of WPL before they begin their first session
The video advertisement provider may collect data including device identifiers, IP address, and advertisement interaction metrics. This data is processed by the advertising provider under their own privacy policy and is not controlled by WinPlay. By participating in WPL, participants consent to this video advertisement delivery as part of the game mechanic.
Participants who do not wish to encounter the video advertisement mechanic may choose not to use the second-chance feature — by not answering incorrectly — or may choose not to participate in WPL. Spot the Ball does not use rewarded video advertisements.
5. Cookies and Advertising
WinPlay uses the following categories of cookies:
Essential Cookies — Required for the platform to function. These include session authentication cookies, security tokens, and game state cookies for both Spot the Ball and WPL. These cannot be disabled without rendering the platform non-functional.
Analytics Cookies — Used to understand how participants use the platform. We use aggregated analytics data to improve competition design and user experience. Analytics data is not linked to individual identities.
Advertising Cookies — Google AdSense — WinPlay displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Google's DoubleClick cookie may be used to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing history. You can opt out of personalised advertising at: https://www.google.com/settings/ads
Advertising Cookies — WPL Video Ads — The rewarded video advertisement network used in WPL may use cookies to deliver and measure video advertisements. These cookies are activated only during WPL sessions when the second-chance mechanic is triggered.
You can manage your cookie preferences through the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every WinPlay page. Disabling non-essential cookies may affect advertising personalisation but will not affect your ability to participate in competitions.
6. Data Sharing
We share your personal data only in the following circumstances:
Prize logistics partners — Your name and delivery address are shared with our courier partners (BlueDart, DHL, or equivalent) solely for the purpose of prize dispatch. These partners process your data only as instructed by WinPlay.
Identity verification — Government ID details provided during prize claiming are processed for verification purposes only and are not retained beyond the verification process.
Google AdSense — Technical and advertising data is shared with Google for advertising delivery as described in Section 5.
WPL video advertising network — Device and interaction data is shared with the video advertising provider as described in Section 4.
Legal requirements — We may disclose personal data to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by applicable law.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not share your data for marketing purposes with any party outside WinPlay.

8. Your Rights

Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including personalised advertising.
Right to withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent (including advertising cookies), withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@thewinplay.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (UK) or the relevant data protection authority in India.
9. Data Security
WinPlay implements appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), password hashing, access controls, and regular security reviews. No transmission over the internet is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to maintaining industry-standard protections.
10. Children
WinPlay does not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 years of age. Age is verified during registration. If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has registered on WinPlay, contact support@thewinplay.com immediately.
11. Ad Integrity Policy
WinPlay maintains strict advertising integrity standards across both game formats:
Spot the Ball Ad Standards: The 100-pixel CSS interaction buffer surrounding all Spot the Ball gameplay elements prevents unintentional ad clicks. Advertisements are placed exclusively in the lobby (before gameplay begins) and in the results section (after gameplay closes). No advertisements are placed over active challenge images or in any position that could obscure gameplay elements.
WPL Ad Standards: Display advertisements in WPL appear between sessions only — not during active quiz sessions. The rewarded video advertisement that plays during the second-chance mechanic is a disclosed game feature, not a traditional display advertisement. The video is mandatory for second-chance access and is disclosed in these Terms and in the WPL game rules before any session begins.
Universal Standards (both games): We never offer rewards, hints, extra entries, or gameplay advantages in exchange for ad clicks or engagement. All advertising revenue is derived from genuine user engagement with content — not from incentivised or artificial interactions. We do not use pop-unders, auto-play audio advertisements, interstitials that block content navigation, or deceptive close button mechanics.
No Artificial Traffic: WinPlay's traffic is generated entirely through organic search, social media, direct navigation, and earned word-of-mouth. We do not purchase traffic, use traffic exchange programmes, employ bots or click farms, or use any technique to artificially inflate advertising impressions or click-through rates. All advertising impressions on WinPlay are from genuine human visitors engaged with our competitions.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features (including new game modes). Material changes will be notified to registered participants via email and displayed on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

This policy provides the technical and compliance detail behind WinPlay's advertising standards. For a summary of our advertising principles, see the About Us page. This document is intended for advertising partners, Google AdSense reviewers, and players who want full technical transparency.
1. Spot the Ball — Ad Placement Specification
Advertisements in Spot the Ball appear in two zones only: the Lobby (before the challenge image loads) and the Results Section (after the player has submitted and the challenge has closed). No advertisements appear at any other point.
A 100-pixel CSS buffer is applied at code level around the challenge image, coordinate marker tool, and submission button. This prevents any physical overlap between an advertisement's click zone and the gameplay interaction area. A player placing a coordinate marker cannot accidentally trigger an ad click — the buffer makes this technically impossible regardless of device or screen size.
Permanently prohibited in Spot the Ball: ads overlaid on challenge images, ads within the coordinate placement interface, ads during the analysis phase, interstitials blocking game access, auto-playing audio, and any format that could be mistaken for a game element.
2. WPL — Ad Placement Specification and Rewarded Video Disclosure
Standard display advertisements in WPL appear between sessions only — on the pre-session landing screen and the post-session results screen. No display advertisements appear during an active WPL quiz session.
WPL additionally uses a rewarded video advertisement as an integral part of the second-chance game mechanic. Full technical disclosure:
- Trigger: Activates only when a player answers a question incorrectly on the first attempt. Never triggered during correct-answer sequences or between questions.
- Timer behaviour: The 5-minute session timer pauses automatically when the video plays and resumes when it ends. Players are not penalised for advertisement duration.
- Format: Non-skippable rewarded video, typically 15–30 seconds, compliant with Google's rewarded advertising specifications.
- Frequency: Maximum one per question, maximum 20 per completed session. Average for a completing player is substantially lower.
- Reward: One second-chance attempt at the same question. 5 points awarded for a correct second attempt.
- Disclosure: This mechanic is disclosed in the WPL rules, Terms and Conditions (Section 4.9), Privacy Policy (Section 4), and Cookie Policy (Category 4) before any session begins.
Permanently prohibited in WPL: display ads during active sessions, video ads triggered by any event other than an incorrect first attempt, any advertising interfering with the session timer or question display.
3. Universal Compliance Standards
No Artificial Traffic: All WinPlay traffic is organic — search, direct navigation, and social media referral. No traffic is purchased from any network or exchange. No bots, click farms, or automated tools are used. Every advertising impression represents a genuine human visitor engaged with a skill competition.
No Ad Stacking: No WinPlay page displays more advertisements than permitted under Google AdSense density guidelines. Density is reviewed before any new page template is deployed.
Google AdSense Programme Compliance: WinPlay operates in full compliance with Google AdSense Programme Policies including content policies, placement policies, and traffic quality requirements. All challenge images and quiz images comply with Google's content policies — all imagery is rights-cleared or commissioned by WinPlay.
Prohibited Advertising Categories: WinPlay does not display advertisements from gambling operators, payday lenders, adult content providers, tobacco products, or any category that contradicts WinPlay's skill competition positioning.
Brand Safety: WinPlay's content is categorised under sports, general knowledge, and skill gaming. No adult, violent, or politically sensitive content appears on any WinPlay page.
4. WPL Brand Sponsorship Disclosure
The WPL monthly championship accepts named brand sponsors. An active sponsorship is disclosed by titling the competition "WinPlay Premier League sponsored by [Brand]" during the sponsorship period. Brand sponsors do not influence question content, scoring rules, or winner determination. No native advertising or undisclosed commercial influence exists within WinPlay's content or competition results.
5. Reporting
Players or partners who identify advertising that appears to violate this policy may contact support@thewinplay.com with a description and screenshot. All reports are investigated within 5 working days.
