About Us
Indias Free Daily Skill-Based Sports Competition
WinPlay began with a simple observation. In the UK, Spot the Ball is a legendary high-stakes tradition — but these competitions were almost always hidden behind a paywall. We believe that true sports intuition should never have a price tag.
We built WinPlay specifically for the serious sports fan — the person who spends their weekends analysing every curve of a cricket ball, every strikers run in a football match, every bowlers wrist position at the crease. By moving from a traditional ticket-price model to a transparent, ad-supported platform, we have made the game accessible to everyone in India, permanently and completely free.
Our mission is simple: turn sports knowledge into real-world rewards through daily skill-based competitions, for a community of fans who trust their expertise.
What Is Spot the Ball?
Spot the Ball is a precision sports competition with roots in British newspaper culture dating back to the 1950s. The mechanic is straightforward: a professional sports photograph is presented with the ball digitally removed. Your task is to use your knowledge of physics, player biomechanics, body language, and game context to pinpoint the balls exact location on a precision coordinate grid.
There is no random draw. There is no luck involved. The winner is the participant whose coordinate submission is mathematically closest to the independently verified correct position — a position determined by a panel of sports experts before the game opens, sealed in a timestamped record, and published in full transparency after the challenge closes.
This is what Spot the Ball has always been. WinPlay is its digital evolution.

A Competition of Absolute Precision
WinPlay is a precision-based accuracy challenge. We do not use randomised draws or probability-based selection. Every outcome is determined by a single objective measurement: the Euclidean distance — √((x₂-x₁)² + (y₂-y₁)²) — between your submitted coordinates and the expert-verified ball position. The closest submission earns the reward. Every time.
What WinPlay Actually Tests
Biomechanical Observation — Reading athlete body language, identifying points of physical exertion, and understanding how the human body moves at the moment of ball contact.
Predictive Physics — Calculating ball trajectories based on environmental cues, Magnus effect spin, launch angles, and player positioning.
Spatial Intelligence — Mapping three-dimensional sports action onto a two-dimensional digital plane using shadow analysis, eye-line triangulation, and depth estimation.
Players who study these disciplines consistently outperform casual guessers. This is the measurable skill differential that makes WinPlay a competition rather than a lottery.
Why the Ball Position Is Based on Expert Judgement — Not the Original Photo
This is one of the most important things to understand about Spot the Ball, and what legally and philosophically makes it a skill competition.
If the true ball position from the original photograph were used as the answer, any player could search for the original image online and submit the exact correct coordinates — making the competition trivially easy to cheat. The outcome would be random among those who found the image first, not a test of skill.
Instead, WinPlay uses the independently judged position: where a panel of sports experts believes the ball to be, based on biomechanics, player positioning, physics, and game context. Players are not finding the ball — they are demonstrating that their sports reasoning matches that of expert analysts.
This design principle, unchanged since Spot the Ball was invented in 1950s Britain, is the mechanism that keeps the competition honest, uncheateable, and genuinely skill-based. It is also the reason the competition is legally distinct from a quiz, a lottery, or a game of chance under Indian and UK law.
Our Image Rights and Content Standards
All sports photography used in WinPlay challenges is either licensed through commercial image licensing agreements, sourced from rights-cleared stock photography providers, or commissioned specifically for WinPlay. We do not use images scraped from news sites, social media, or broadcast footage.
Each image undergoes a rights clearance check before being published as a challenge. This ensures WinPlay operates in full compliance with copyright law and Googles content policies, and protects both our players and our advertising partners.
Ad Integrity: Our Commitment to Fairness
WinPlay is a premium, ad-supported platform. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of advertising transparency and click integrity.
The 100px Interaction Buffer — A dedicated CSS safety zone surrounds all gameplay elements to prevent unintentional ad clicks. A users intent to place a coordinate marker can never be confused with an intent to engage with an advertisement.
Natural Break Placement — Advertisements appear only in the lobby before a game begins and in the results section after a game closes. We strictly prohibit ad placement over active game images or anywhere that could obstruct a players technical analysis.
No-Incentive Policy — We never offer rewards, extra entries, or hints in exchange for ad engagement. Every click on WinPlay is driven by genuine user interest.
No Artificial Traffic — WinPlays traffic is generated entirely through organic search, social media, and direct navigation. We do not purchase traffic from third-party networks, use traffic exchange programmes, employ bots or click farms, or use any technique to artificially inflate ad impressions or click-through rates.
No Ad Manipulation — We do not use pop-unders, interstitials that block content, deceptive close buttons, or any placement technique designed to generate accidental clicks. Users have full navigational control at all times.
Responsible Gaming
Although WinPlay is not a gambling platform, we take player wellbeing seriously.
We enforce a strict 18+ age requirement, verified at registration. Our daily challenge format is intentionally designed to create a single, brief, focused daily engagement — not extended compulsive sessions. WinPlay does not use dark patterns, artificial urgency timers, or psychological pressure techniques to encourage excessive platform use.
Players who wish to close their account or request deletion of their personal data can do so at any time in accordance with our Privacy Policy. All requests are honoured within 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is WinPlay legal in India? Yes. WinPlay is a skill-based precision competition, legally distinct from gambling or lottery under Indian law. The outcome is determined entirely by the Euclidean distance between a players submitted coordinate and the expert-verified position — a purely mathematical, skill-dependent result with no random element. WinPlay Private Limited is incorporated in England and Wales (Company No. 16345818) and operates in compliance with applicable Indian and UK legislation.
Q: Is it really free? What is the catch? There is no catch. WinPlay is funded entirely by advertising revenue. Advertisers pay to reach our engaged sports audience, which allows us to offer genuine prizes to winning players at zero cost. You will see display advertisements in the lobby and results sections of the platform. That is the entire model — your attention funds the prizes.
Q: Why is the correct ball position based on expert judgement rather than the actual photo? Because using the actual ball position would make the competition trivially easy to cheat — anyone could reverse-search the original photograph. Expert judgement ensures that only genuine sports analysis can produce a winning result. This design principle is what makes Spot the Ball a skill competition rather than a quiz, and is unchanged from its 1950s origins.
Q: How is the verified ball position determined before the game opens? A panel of independent sports analysts marks the balls centre on the original unedited photograph before any player submits an entry. Their coordinates are averaged and sealed in a timestamped record. This position cannot be changed after the competition opens. It is published in full on the Winners Circle page after the challenge closes, alongside each winners coordinate, so any player can independently verify their result.
Q: Does WinPlay use paid or artificial traffic to generate ad revenue? No. All traffic to WinPlay is organic — from search engines, social media, and direct navigation. We do not purchase traffic, use traffic exchange programmes, or employ any technique to artificially inflate ad impressions. Every advertising impression on WinPlay is from a genuine human visitor who is on the site to play the daily challenge.
Q: How does WinPlay handle user-generated content? WinPlay does not currently feature public comment sections or open content submission areas. Profile photos uploaded during registration are reviewed before public display. Any user-submitted content that violates our community standards is removed promptly. WinPlay maintains full editorial control over all publicly visible content on the platform.
Q: What is WinPlays responsible gaming policy? WinPlay enforces strict 18+ age verification. Our daily format is designed for brief, focused engagement — not extended sessions. We do not use dark patterns or psychological pressure techniques. Any player can request account closure or full data deletion at any time, honoured within 30 days under our Privacy Policy.
Q: What happens if a prize cannot be fulfilled? In the unlikely event that a featured prize becomes unavailable due to supplier or logistics issues, WinPlay will offer the winner either an equivalent prize of equal or greater value, or a full cash equivalent transferred to the winners verified bank account. WinPlay maintains a prize fulfilment reserve to ensure all active competitions can be honoured.
Q: Who can I contact with questions or concerns? Our team is available Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Email us at support@thewinplay.com or use the contact form on our Contact Us page. We respond to all enquiries within 24–48 hours.
